Are you a fan of the perfect combination of sweet and salty flavors?

That warm, rich velvety buttery creamy caramel with a hint of sea salt? Look no further than Tara’s Gourmet Sea Salt Caramels.

In this review, we’ll explore what makes these caramels stand out from the rest and why they’re a must-try for any caramel lover.

Introduction to Tara’s Gourmet Sea Salt Caramels

Tara’s Gourmet Sea Salt Caramels are a delicious and unique treat that combines the sweetness of caramel with the savory taste of sea salt.

I stumbled upon them while browsing the Amazon app for review worthy treats…and I’m glad I decided to buy.

They’re made with high-quality ingredients and a careful attention to detail. Don’t expect a mass produced product here, you can tell the difference as soon as you unscrew the lid, let alone tasting one.

These caramels are a game-changer for anyone who loves the perfect balance of sweet and salty flavors.

In this review, we’ll take a closer look at what makes Tara’s caramels so special and why they’re worth buying and trying for yourself.

The Perfect Balance Of Sweet And Salty

When confectioners are making treats that are both sweet and salty, it’s not easy to achieve the perfect balance of both.

Too much salt and you’ll drown out the caramel (and it’ll taste gross). Too little salt and it will get lost and overpowered by the caramel.

Tara’s Gourmet Sea Salt Caramels are the perfect treat for anyone who loves the combination of sweet and salty flavors.

The caramel flavor is a mouth filling velvety warmness with layers of depth that infuse together to create an unavoidable drool worthy response.

Your mouth will water, I am not kidding.

I think the confectioners at Tara’s add some sea salt crystals just under the outer layer of caramel and then add a few crystals right in the center.

The sea salt adds a savory note that balances out the sweetness perfectly.

It’s admirable that they’ve managed to finesse their recipe this far. I don’t know what else you would want from a sea salted caramel.

Even if you’re a stern fan of traditional (saltless) caramels or you’re looking for something new and exciting, Tara’s Gourmet Sea Salt Caramels are definitely worth trying.

High-Quality Ingredients And Attention To Detail

So what goes into each and every Tara’s Gourmet Sea Salt Caramel? Is this where the secret magic comes in? No, and it’s not even a secret. Just top quality, real ingredients.

After trying just one, Tara’s Sea Salt Caramels shine and most of the other caramels kind of flop.

Real butter, farm fresh cream and premium sea salt form the base of the sea salt caramels.

They do one thing that I don’t think can ever be taken over by machines.

It’s the love that goes into making each batch by hand, making sure every caramel is exactly how it should be. This is high quality sea salt caramel. You can’t fake that.

Another step Tara’s takes to make sure their sea salt caramels are the best is their use of Kettles – where the caramel mixture is cooked carefully and slowly in small batches.

Normally factories have huge vats full of their mixture, not at Tara’s. They keep strictly to their old-fashioned craft batch, by batch….by batch.

Here are the ingredients:

  • Caramel (Corn Syrup, Sweetened Condensed Milk)
  • Heavy Cream
  • Butter
  • Brown Sugar
  • Sugar
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Salt
  • Sly Lechithin
  • Sea Salt

Packaging And Presentation

If anything about these caramels should be changed, I’d say it would be to think about more up marketing their packaging and presentation.

What they have now is a plastic tub with a sticker on it. It’s not bad or anything, but it doesn’t do a good job of representing the delicious caramel morsels themselves.

I’d expect to find this jar at Costco, stacked high on some pallet. It’s functional, don’t get me wrong, but it’s a bit blah for the excellent treats inside.

Put these in some sort of gift box and stick a bow on it. Maybe like a treasure chest kind of thing?

Is It Gift Ready?

No, I don’t think so. You will need to dress up the tub or put it into a (large) gift bag. Alternatively find a fancy air tight container and transfer the caramels to it.

You can have Amazon add a gift tag to the order, but they’ll know exactly what you gifted them as soon as they open the box.

So, nah, not gift ready in terms of a birthday or anniversary celebration that you’ll physically be present at. If you’re shipping it to someone though they’ll have to open a box before they see what you got them…so that could work.

Overall Experience And Recommendation

If you’re looking for a sea salt caramel, buy Tara’s.

Each tub holds 48 caramels, but each one is so intense with flavor that you don’t really need to have several of them in a row to enjoy it.

Being caramels, they aren’t supposed to be chewed up and swallowed, more like savored and melt on your tongue. These last a while and the dash of sea salt right in the middle is a nice finish and isn’t overpowering.

The pricing is fair and shipping is fast with Amazon Prime.

I really feel like Tara’s Sea Salt Caramels have set the standard for every other caramel to try and achieve or even beat. I look forward to trying the competition!

For some people, the caramels might be a bit too much. They’re large and really do make your mouth water. You can take a kitchen knife and cut one in half and it’ll keep just fine until you are ready to enjoy it. Just wrap it back up and store in a cool, dry place.

You really should check these out if you are a caramel fan.
